A problem that no amount of tech can solve 🕵🏽♂️
If you’ve subscribed in the last couple of weeks, you might not have enough context about what we’re up to, so here’s the gist:
I’ve taken over the newsletter while Arpit (databeats founder) is on a writing sprint (his version of deep work to tackle complex topics via the written word).
Arpit will be back in the next track (our term for "issue") where he will release what he's been working on.
Hey there!
It’s me again (Seena pronounced as Sheena – final reminder, I promise) 😀
And today, I’m here to tell you about the problem databeats is solving and a solution we have in the works. But before I dive into that, I’d like to quickly reiterate our vision:
Our vision is to enable every organization to go from Good Data to Growth.
It makes perfect sense to someone like me who is relatively new to the data space but is already so passionate about our mission – to beat the gap between data people and non-data people for good.
However, we’re also aware that executing this vision and getting closer to our mission is anything but easy…
Unlike a piece of software that starts out by solving one problem for a specific persona, databeats aims to empower product, growth, and data people at tech companies to solve their everyday data problems – so ambitious and so freakin’ hard, I know!
But there are tools to solve all kinds of data problems, you say?
Absolutely.
In fact, there are too many tools to solve every data problem, as long as the problem can be solved by software, of course.
At databeats, we’re working on a problem that no amount of tech can solve – the data knowledge gap that’s preventing even the most motivated teams from building a foundation for Good Data and turning it into predictable and sustainable Growth for the organization.
How do we intend to do that?
Well, Arpit has been trying to figure that out for a while and he’s getting close – there are two main things keeping him busy:
A visual model called The Good Data To Growth (GDG) Pyramid
Words (lots of it) to break down the core components of the model
In case you're wondering what the model is all about, well, it depicts the following:
The path leading to a Good Data foundation for organizations
The various activities that lead to insights and how insights feed the Good Data foundation
The two paths to go from Good Data to Growth
After way too many iterations based on feedback from some really good minds in data, the GDG Pyramid is almost ready for primetime – we’re aiming to release the visual within a few weeks.
That said, the visual is just a depiction of the model, and to enable teams to put it into practice and go from Good Data To Growth, we’re launching…
🥁🥁
A WIP digital book on GDG: Chapters will be released weekly over a period of 12-16 weeks
A single-channel Slack community: 1:1 answers to your questions from Arpit + a shared space to discuss the model with peers as you put it into practice at your org
As you digest all this, be sure to keep an eye out for our upcoming Backbeat issue. You can expect to hear more about our launch soon from Arpit.
Let’s beat the gap for good! 🥁
